Vanessa is an urban economist who uses mixed methodologies to explore the agency of urban governments’ investment to trigger economic change. She is currently doing PhD studies at The Development Planning Unit at University College London. She trained as an Economist at the Universidad de Antioquia and as a Political Scientist from National University of Colombia in Medellín. She holds a Master in Regional Sciences from Universidad Católica del Norte, Chile. Her multidisciplinary background let her into a deep interest for urban areas research. Her current research address a fundamental, yet relatively neglected, urban issue in cities in the Global South. The redistributive effects of urban interventions in the neighbourhood – level collective services. It aims to bring together new empirical data in mixed-methods research design to build new insights that relate to both the investments and politics of more equal urban development.
